US Strikes Iranian Coasts as Tehran Targets Regional Bases

2 September، 2026

Intensified Military Confrontation

A severe deterioration in regional security has returned to the Middle East, marking the most intense military confrontation between the United States and Iran since July. The escalation was triggered by coordinated aerial and naval strikes launched by US forces against Iranian sites located in the southern part of the country. In immediate response, Tehran retaliated with a barrage of missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles targeting the network of American military bases distributed across several nations in the region.

US Operations Near Hormuz

The US military command stated that its operations specifically targeted assets belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. These targets included radar systems, air defense batteries, maritime facilities, and communication sites situated near the Strait of Hormuz. The Pentagon’s actions were framed as a direct countermeasure to Iranian activities in the critical waterway.

Tehran’s Retaliation and Casualties

Iranian authorities accused Washington of orchestrating attacks that resulted in at least 12 deaths, including five civilians. These casualties occurred during an strike on a house in the coastal city of Sirik, which was hosting a wedding celebration. Following this incident, Tehran announced a comprehensive offensive aimed at ending the US military presence in the area. The Iranian military declared that it had launched intensive attacks on bases housing American troops in Jordan, Iraq, Bahrain, and Kuwait.

Regional Defense Responses

Jordanian authorities reported intercepting ten ballistic missiles out of thirteen that entered its airspace from neighboring territories. Meanwhile, Kuwait confirmed that it successfully defended against a drone attack directed at a residential complex. In northern Iraq, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps attacked targets in Erbil, issuing warnings that any cooperation with Washington would lead to severe consequences for those involved.

Economic and Maritime Fallout

The field escalation caused a rapid surge in global oil prices, pushing crude to its highest levels in weeks. This volatility triggered a downturn in Asian and European financial markets. Tensions remain high in the Strait of Hormuz, where both sides have exchanged accusations regarding the safety of navigation. Reports indicate damage to oil tankers due to sea mines, and the death of Filipino sailors while a vessel belonging to a Saudi company passed through the vital waterway.
