The leadership delegation of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) concluded its participation in a round of national dialogue held in Cairo over recent days. The delegation was headed by Zahir Jabarin and included Political Bureau members Hussam Badran and Ghazi Hamad. The talks took place on Saturday, marking the end of a series of meetings aimed at organizing Palestinian political structures and reaching shared agreements on national issues.
According to a press statement issued by the movement, the delegation initiated its engagements with a meeting with the Fatah delegation. During this session, both sides discussed the foundational principles and requirements necessary for the success of the dialogue process. This was followed by a broader meeting that included representatives from Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and the Reform Current within Fatah.
During these interactions, the Hamas delegation emphasized that comprehensive national dialogue serves as the primary entry point for addressing Palestinian challenges and countering Israeli plans. The delegation stressed the necessity of relying on a shared national vision centered on rebuilding and reforming the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). This reform must be based on political and administrative foundations that guarantee partnership and ensure the participation of all forces and factions.
Furthermore, the delegation highlighted elections as the main mechanism for forming official Palestinian institutions. They called for consensus on a joint strategic framework for resistance and the restoration of the Palestinian cause and national project at both regional and international levels. The participants agreed to continue the dialogue until they achieve mutual understandings. The factions also praised Egypt’s role in hosting and facilitating these national dialogues.
This resumption of national talks occurs amidst escalating political and field challenges facing the Palestinian cause. There are repeated calls to overcome internal divisions and enhance national partnership. These efforts aim to formulate a unified vision for dealing with current developments, protecting Palestinian national rights, and confronting occupation plans aimed at imposing new facts on the ground.
