Israeli Media Under Fire: Accusations of Fostering Fascism

5 November، 2026

Israel is currently experiencing an unprecedented emergency that threatens the very existence of its democracy. According to a recent analysis, many within the free press are actively working to dismantle this democratic framework. While some act with deliberate intent, others are driven by familiar flaws such as blindness, short-sightedness, sycophancy, naivety, quick deception, populism, and racism.

Shamai Vasserma, a respected professor of history and civic education, previously stated in high school that the press serves as the guardian of democracy. This role is often referred to as the “Fourth Estate” or the “Great Seventh Power,” carrying significant responsibility. However, the author argues that many colleagues are betraying this duty by serving as tools for Benjamin Netanyahu and his aides to destroy democratic institutions.

The critique focuses on three specific pillars used to prevent Netanyahu’s removal from the office of Prime Minister following the elections. These tactics, which mirror the January 6 Capitol attack in the United States, include challenging the legitimacy of election results under the guise of “election theft,” launching racist campaigns to delegitimize the influence of Arab voters in legislative and executive bodies (labeled as “voting terrorism”), and distorting voter rights by promoting the concept of a “National Unity Government.” The author warns that if these strategies succeed, it will mark the end of democracy and the state.

Allegations extend to the infiltration of security agencies, claiming that Netanyahu’s organization has placed loyalists in key positions within Shin Bet to execute orders when necessary. The media landscape is criticized for failing to expose this alleged madness. Instead of providing objective journalism, television channels, radio stations, newspapers, and social networks have been filled with collaborators and conspirators.

Specific individuals and programs are singled out for criticism. Ayala Hasson, described as Netanyahu’s protective arm at Kan 11, and Amit Segal, noted for his consistent handling of matters related to Netanyahu’s office at News 12, are cited as examples. Their continued prominence is viewed as a stain on their editors-in-chief and managers. Furthermore, the “Moriah and Barkovitch” program on Channel 13 is accused of becoming a daily hub for racism and populism since the elections.

Igal Barkovitch and Eli Ohana are criticized for lacking the necessary knowledge, experience, skills, and sources to responsibly comment on current political issues. The blame is placed not on the presenters but on their employers. Additionally, serious journalists fell into the trap of the Netanyahu office regarding claims of “foreign interference in elections” and the exclusion of 19 seats representing Arab citizens, which is deemed a violation of democracy.

Arnon Mozes, who is implicated alongside Netanyahu in Case 2000 involving Yedioth Ahronoth and Walla!, is described as a major instigator of incitement and division while advocating for a unity government led by Netanyahu. The author urges friends who have lost sight of the truth to wake up and return to sanity, emphasizing the duty to defend rights forcefully rather than surrendering to the interests of fascists and racists.
