Death Toll Rises Following New Casualty
The Government Media Office in the Gaza Strip announced on Wednesday that the number of Palestinian journalists who have been martyred since the beginning of the genocide against the sector has reached 263. This update came immediately after the confirmation of the martyrdom of journalist Muhammad Abdul Aziz Al-Najar.
The office clarified that Al-Najar was working as a media worker and announcer at the Quran Radio station, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Waqf and Religious Affairs. His death brings the total count of journalists killed by the Israeli occupation during the ongoing conflict to 263 martyrs.
Condemnation of Systematic Targeting
In a press statement, the Government Media Office condemned the targeting and killing of Palestinian journalists in the strongest possible terms. The office characterized these acts as a systematic campaign aimed specifically at journalists and media professionals operating within the Gaza Strip.
The statement called upon the International Federation of Journalists, the Arab Journalists Union, and all journalistic bodies and institutions worldwide to condemn the systematic crimes committed against Palestinian journalists and media workers in Gaza. The office held the Israeli occupation and the countries participating in the war fully responsible for these crimes.
Demands for International Action
The office urged the international community, international organizations, and relevant entities involved in press and media work to denounce these violations and pursue those responsible before international courts. It further demanded the exertion of serious and effective pressure to halt the war, protect journalists and media personnel in Gaza, and stop their targeting and killing.
The Government Media Office offered prayers for the souls of the martyred journalists, wishing speedy recovery for injured journalists, and expressing patience and condolences to the families of the martyrs and the broader Palestinian press family.
