Palestinian civic activists and Islamic organizations have issued stern warnings regarding a projected wave of extensive incursions and unprecedented rituals targeting the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound. These activities are scheduled to coincide with what is referred to as the “Feast of the Throne,” a biblical holiday period extending from September 26 through October 2.
Surge in Settler Numbers
Data and statistics provided by local sources indicate a sharp rise in the number of settlers entering the holy site during Jewish festival seasons. Reports show that approximately 7,119 settlers entered the Al-Aqsa compound during the holidays in 2025. This figure represents a significant increase compared to the 5,980 settlers recorded during the same period in 2024.
New Rituals and Historical Context
Beyond the numerical increase, new ritualistic behaviors have been observed within the mosque’s courtyards. Last year, settlers were documented introducing items known as “vegetable sacrifices” into the Al-Aqsa compound. These items were presented collectively and repeatedly inside the premises. According to reports, attempts to execute these specific rituals date back to 2013, but they have gained momentum and frequency in recent years.
Local bodies characterize these movements as part of broader plans orchestrated by groups associated with the alleged Temple Mount. The stated objective of these groups is to alter the historical status quo within the Al-Aqsa Mosque and impose new facts on the ground. These actions are reportedly facilitated by security protections and logistical support provided by occupation forces.
Call for Mobilization
In response to these threats, Palestinian political forces and Islamic entities have called upon the Palestinian public to mobilize immediately. They have urged citizens to travel to Al-Aqsa, declare a general mobilization, and intensify religious presence (Rabitah) both inside the compound and its surrounding areas. The goal is to fill the courtyards with worshippers to counter the anticipated provocative incursions.
Organizers emphasized that Palestinian presence at Al-Aqsa remains a fundamental factor in preserving the site’s Islamic identity. They argue that sustained popular movement and physical presence are essential to thwarting attempts to impose new realities within the holy site. The call for action specifically highlights the need for heightened activism throughout the duration of the “Feast of the Throne” holiday.
