Raids in West Bank; Settlers Seize Two Bedouin Communities

12 October، 2026

Israeli military forces launched a series of incursions into cities and towns across the West Bank on Monday, executing home raids, conducting searches, and arresting numerous individuals. The operations targeted both young men and released prisoners, occurring alongside parallel attacks by settlers. In Bethlehem Governorate, four Palestinians were detained. According to the Palestinian News Agency (Wafa), troops entered the town of Janata to the east, positioning themselves in various neighborhoods before raiding several homes. Among those arrested were Osama Atallah, Musab Salem Atallah, and his brother Mahmoud.

In Husan to the west, Mustafa Muhammad Hamamra was taken into custody. Meanwhile, in the Arwoud area to the east, soldiers raided multiple Palestinian residences, detaining several youths for field interrogations before releasing them. Early Monday morning, a released prisoner from Beit Rima in northwest Ramallah was arrested after his home was raided and searched. Local sources identified the detainee as Ata Hazem Al-Rimawi. Simultaneously, in Nablus, Ashraf Al-Kousa, a resident of the Thawr area, was arrested following an early morning raid on his residence.

In Ras al-Fara, south of Tubas, Kamal Bani Awad, director of the Prisoners Club, reported that security forces raided the area and searched a house without making any arrests. Late Sunday evening, troops entered Birzeit, firing tear gas canisters at residential buildings before withdrawing. Additionally, Israeli forces handed over the body of Shadi Ahmad Al-Jarmah, a martyr from Beit Ula, to ambulance crews who transported him to Hebron Hospital. Al-Jarmah was killed two days prior during a chase on the highway connecting Hebron and Bethlehem, with his body held by authorities since his death.

Last Sunday evening, Mahmoud Abu Sul, a released prisoner and wounded man from the Warrour refugee camp north of Hebron, was arrested at a military checkpoint at the camp’s entrance. In occupied Jerusalem, settlers seized two Bedouin communities near Al-Khan Al-Ahmar, installing barbed wire around the areas. Local sources stated that settlers attacked the Al-Muhtash and Al-Tabna communities, preventing shepherds and residents from accessing their lands to establish facts on the ground and seize the territory entirely.

The Jerusalem Municipality noted this action is part of continuous assaults targeting these communities, including road closures, restrictions on access to grazing lands, water line sabotage, and the posting of racist slogans. These measures aim to suffocate residents and threaten their presence on their land. Encircling the communities with barbed wire restricts movement for citizens and shepherds, allowing settlers to expand their activities. Bedouin communities surrounding Jerusalem and the Jordan Valley face escalating risks of demolition, forced displacement, and restrictions on urban expansion, severely impacting livelihoods dependent on herding and water access.
