Settler Attacks on Olive Harvesters Across Northern West Bank

9 October، 2026

On Friday morning, a wave of continuous attacks by settlers targeted olive harvesters across multiple regions in the northern, central, and southern West Bank. The violence included physical beatings, the use of pepper spray, vehicle smashing, and the arson of mature olive trees. According to initial data from the Anti-Wall and Settlement Resistance Authority, 19 distinct incidents were recorded, involving assaults on citizens, theft of livestock and crops, and direct attacks on vehicles.

In Deir Balout, west of Salfit, settlers attacked farmers with clubs and pepper spray while they worked their land. Military forces intervened subsequently, forcing the farmers to abandon their fields and return home. In Kafr al-Dik, also west of Salfit, Ziyad Nazih Naji sustained head injuries after being beaten by settlers during the harvest. Meanwhile, in Wadi Al-Shaer, east of Salfit, arsonists set fire to dozens of ancient olive trees, causing significant damage to the livelihoods of local families. Similar attacks occurred in Yasuf, Sakka, and Mardeh.

In Nablus province, settlers harassed harvesters between Deir Shref and Al-Naqura. In Ramallah, violence erupted in Deir Sudan, where settlers accompanied by dogs and protected by Israeli troops forced residents off their lands and stole their produce. In Ein Yabrud, east of Ramallah, settlers surrounded a citizen’s vehicle on the main street, beat him and his child, and stole the car. In Ein Qiniya, armed settlers stole 20 sheep from farmer Abu Muhammad Al-Kaabana while soldiers prevented the owner from intervening.

The situation escalated in Deir Ibzi, where settlers assaulted locals and foreign solidarity activists, beating one activist and attempting to steal his phone while obstructing journalists. The Red Crescent Society reported treating two victims of beatings and gas exposure. In Awwin, north of Ramallah, occupation forces fired toxic gas canisters at harvesters for the second consecutive day, blocking access to lands in Wadi Al-Laban and Ghuraba. In Sarda and Al-Rayhan, armed settlers conducted provocative patrols, threw stones at cars, fired live ammunition into the air, and destroyed the memorial statue of martyr Mhand Al-Halabi. The Resistance Authority condemned these acts, stating that repeated attacks, often with military participation or protection, aim to coerce Palestinians into abandoning their land. The body called for urgent international measures to protect farmers and hold perpetrators accountable.
