The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially confirmed that communications and high-level visits with Iranian counterparts are ongoing. These efforts are aimed at achieving tangible progress in the dialogue between Washington and Tehran, with the ultimate goal of ending the war that has persisted for approximately seven months. Ibrahim Al-Hamadi, Director of Media and Communications at the ministry, provided these details during a press briefing on Tuesday.

Al-Hamadi emphasized that contact lines have not been severed. He stated that current visits and communications are designed to reach a stage where further constructive steps can be taken. Regarding the specific dynamics between the United States and Iran, he affirmed that talks are active. Messages are being exchanged between various parties through Qatar and its regional partners, positioning Doha as a crucial conduit for diplomacy in the region.

Support for Regional Stability Initiatives

The Qatari official underscored Doha’s openness to supporting any initiative undertaken by regional states, provided such efforts aim to enhance stability. This includes backing the “Mecca Alliance,” although Al-Hamadi noted it is too early to discuss Qatar’s potential formal membership in this coalition. The primary focus remains on supporting all endeavors directed toward concluding the war in the area.

Additionally, Al-Hamadi indicated that Qatar is prepared to host an Iranian delegation to review the latest developments concerning Iranian pilots. This openness reflects Doha’s role in facilitating transparency and de-escalation measures among conflicting parties.

Iranian Minister’s Visit and Security Cooperation

On Tuesday, Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani received Iskandar Momeni, Iran’s Minister of Interior, in Doha. The visit carried a message from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. During the meeting, both sides reviewed regional developments and discussed efforts to reduce tensions.

In parallel developments regarding Yemen and broader regional security, Al-Hamadi expressed Qatar’s support for the announcement by Pakistan and Turkey to deploy military forces and capabilities in Saudi Arabia. This deployment is part of a mutual defense agreement signed by the three nations. The Qatari government stressed its unwavering support for Riyadh in all measures taken to preserve its security and territorial integrity.
