US Sanctions 3 Iranian-Linked Entities in Turkey

4 September، 2026

The United States Department of the Treasury announced new sanctions targeting three entities operating out of Turkey that are connected to Iran. The measures were implemented on Friday and specifically name Golden Global Portfolio Management Company, Golden Global Limited Asset Leasing, and Golden Global Investment Bank. Alongside the designation of these organizations, the Treasury issued a new general license. This authorization permits financial institutions and other parties to gradually conclude and wind down any ongoing transactions with the newly sanctioned entities, providing a transition period rather than an immediate freeze.

Escalating Economic Pressure

This development marks the latest phase in the economic campaign led by the administration of President Donald Trump to exert pressure on Tehran. The timing of these sanctions comes approximately six months after the onset of hostilities between Washington and Iran. The conflict has significantly impacted global markets, particularly driving up energy prices as a direct consequence of the geopolitical instability. The Treasury’s move is designed to tighten the noose around Iran’s financial networks, limiting its ability to conduct business through third-party jurisdictions.

Strategic Goals and Recent Actions

Scott Bessent, the US Secretary of the Treasury, who previously announced stricter economic penalties against Iran last month, stated that Washington’s objective remains forcing Tehran to return to the negotiating table. The administration views sustained economic isolation as the primary lever to compel diplomatic engagement. These recent actions follow a series of targeted moves by US authorities to disrupt financial channels supporting Iranian interests. Just last week, Washington acted to halt operations involving branches of Egypt’s National Bank of Egypt in the United Arab Emirates. The intervention was triggered by the bank’s dealings with Iran, demonstrating a continued effort to close loopholes and restrict access to the US dollar system for entities facilitating Iranian trade.
