The Gaza Health Ministry issued an urgent alert on Thursday concerning the critical state of electrical backup systems within healthcare facilities across the Strip. Authorities emphasized that the total exhaustion of operational oils poses an immediate threat to the integrity of generator engines, which face the constant danger of catastrophic failure and combustion.
According to the ministry, engineering teams are currently operating under highly complex technical conditions as they attempt to maintain power supply to vital departments. These efforts are being hampered by the severe depletion of resources, with generators having endured thousands of hours of continuous operation without access to necessary lubricants or routine maintenance. The sustained strain has pushed the machinery to a perilous threshold.
Officials stressed that the generators have reached a stage of extreme vulnerability. They cautioned that if the engines were to burn out due to lack of oil, the damage would be irreversible. Consequently, even if fuel oils become available in the future, the units would be permanently lost and unable to function. This scenario presents a double crisis: not only is there a shortage of consumables, but the physical capacity of the generators to operate is also at risk of total collapse.
The ministry reiterated its calls for immediate intervention from relevant authorities to prevent the complete breakdown of the remaining electrical infrastructure. The situation has evolved beyond a simple logistical issue of supplying oils; it now threatens the fundamental ability of hospitals to sustain operations and provide electricity to life-saving sections. The warning underscores the fragility of the current energy backup systems and the potential for sudden, unmitigated power losses in critical medical areas.
