Strategic Dialogue on Iran
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that he held discussions with US President Donald Trump regarding the imperative to dismantle the Iranian regime. In a statement released by his office, Netanyahu emphasized his commitment to completing this objective. He noted that he has addressed this specific issue with Trump on multiple occasions, including in conversations held just two days prior to the recent announcement.
Trump’s Unconditional Endorsement
On Sunday, President Trump publicly declared his “full and unconditional” support for Netanyahu as the Israeli leader campaigns for re-election. The endorsement comes ahead of the legislative elections scheduled for October 27. Trump articulated his stance on his social media platform, Truth Social, describing the message as a testament to his unwavering backing of Netanyahu in the race to remain Israel’s prime minister.
Vance Maintains Neutrality
In contrast to the President’s explicit intervention, Vice President JD Vance declined to express support or opposition for Netanyahu’s re-election campaign. When questioned by American journalist Mark Halperin regarding his position on the Israeli electoral process, Vance stated that he is neither against nor in favor of supporting Netanyahu. He further clarified that he does not interfere in foreign elections, maintaining a stance of non-involvement distinct from the White House leadership.
Netanyahu’s Response
Reacting to the President’s declaration, Netanyahu expressed gratitude for what he termed “huge support.” Writing on the platform X, the Prime Minister thanked President Trump for his backing and highlighted their collaborative efforts. Netanyahu concluded his message by asserting that together, they would accomplish the mission, referring implicitly to the shared strategic goals discussed during their communications.
