On Sunday, the Hebrew newspaper Maariv highlighted Israeli claims regarding the killing of a Hamas operative in the Gaza Strip. The individual is accused of being responsible for abducting Israeli citizens on a motorcycle during the October 7, 2023 attacks. The publication noted that an image of Noa Argamani sitting on a motorcycle shortly after her abduction by Hamas members became one of the most shocking visuals of the October 7 assault, spreading across global media outlets.
Maariv reported that the Nili team, affiliated with the Shin Bet security service, carried out the operation on Friday. The strike targeted Saher Zaqout in Nuseimat, who was identified as the driver who abducted Argamani and transported her to Gaza. Zaqout is also alleged to have been involved in holding other Israeli hostages.
In separate developments marking continued violations of the ceasefire agreement, Palestinian medical sources confirmed the death of Shadi Abu Hashira and injuries to several others following an Israeli drone strike on a civilian vehicle in the Industry area south of Gaza City. This incident brought the total number of fatalities on Sunday to two. Earlier in the day, medical sources reported that two Palestinians were injured, one in critical condition, after an Israeli drone attacked a gathering of civilians near the White Mosque in the Shati refugee camp west of Gaza City.
A separate attack early in the morning wounded five Palestinians near the tents of displaced persons surrounding the Sheikh Radwan market in northern Gaza City. Local sources added that the Israeli army launched artillery fire targeting areas east of the Shuja’iyya neighborhood in eastern Gaza City. In southern Gaza, a medical source stated that a 17-year-old boy was injured by gunfire from Israeli forces on Shaber Street in central Khan Younis. Earlier on Sunday, 28-year-old Adi Al-Asar was killed by an Israeli drone strike in the Mawasi area west of Khan Younis.
Witnesses described intense firing by the Israeli army toward western and eastern parts of Gaza City, west of Beit Lahiya in the north, east of Khan Younis, and northwest of Rafah in the south. Another drone strike occurred near the Tabaria station in Mawasi without reported casualties. According to the latest data from the Gaza Health Ministry, Israeli violations of the ceasefire have resulted in 1,417 deaths and 4,964 injuries since the agreement took effect. Since October 8, 2023, the conflict has claimed over 74,000 Palestinian lives and injured more than 175,000, destroying approximately 90 percent of the strip’s infrastructure.
